With more than 13 years of golf teaching, Jerry Wong has assisted numerous talented golf players to achieve their golf career.  The followings are his outstanding students :


  • Hong Mei Yang who came from Sichuan, China and became the first Chinese golfer to win a professional tournament in the United States by capturing the Futures Tour IOS Classic and got 1st place in LPGA Qualifying School Second Section in 2004.
     
  • Li Ying Ye who came from Shanghai, China in 2004.  She is the first pro from China to make the cut in U.S. Women's Open.  She is also the first lady golfer  from China as a member to play in LPGA Tours in 2005.  Ms. Ye also earned playing status in 2005 Futures Tours.

Jerry first joined the PGA of America in 1969 and is experienced in all phases of golf operations with special emphasis on teaching. For five years, prior to joining the staff at Oak Valley Golf Academy, he was the Director of Instruction at the prestigious Congressional Country Club, site of the 1964 and 1997 U.S. Open. 

 


Jerry is a certified professional club and ball fitter, mental, golf fitness and vision training instructor, and author of an instructional CD-ROM, "The Lesson Tee", the book “Guide to Learning”, and the “Comprehensive Approach to Golf Instruction”. In addition, he has been a guest speaker at the 1st European Teaching and Coaching Summit in Milan, Italy, a featured contributor to USA Today newspaper, USA TODAY.com in their PGA Lesson Tee Golf Tips, the PGA's 1st Journal of Instruction and is a member of the PGA Magazine's Advisory Board.

Alex has come to join Oak Valley Golf Club from Denver, Colorado.  He was captain of his high school golf team and lettered all 4 years and also was a big participant in the American Junior Golf Association for 3 years.  A graduate of the Professional Golfers Career College, Alex’s skills range from Golf Operations management, teaching, club fitting and club repair.  Alex’s teaching career began with the Nike Junior Camps.  His enthusiasm and commitment to the game enables him to help golfers of all skill levels and abilities.

Jerry was named the 1998 Middle Atlantic PGA Section Teacher of the Year. Among those Jerry has worked with over the years are noted professionals including: Johnny Miller, Billy Casper, Gary Player, Nancy Lopez, Chi Chi Rodgiquez, Tommy Bolt, Ernie Els, and John Daly. Jerry is an accomplished player in his own right.

Eric has recently joined OVGA after he graduated from the University of California, Riverside where he was a four-year letterman in the Division I Men’s Golf Team. During his collegiate period, Eric has lead his team to Top-25 ranking in the US. His greatest golf achievements included to be qualified for the U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship in 2003 and 2005, and a semi-finalist in California Amateur Championship. Eric has turned professional since 2005 and has finished top in several events including the victory in The Pepsi Tour (67-69) won by 8 strokes. Eric is also the course record holders at Oak Valley GC with the score 61

 

Eric pursues his golf career by placing as an Assistant Coach in Men’s Golf Team of UC Riverside. Being an instructor of OVGA, he looks forward to helping those players to achieving their game of golf to the next level.
